Finally, this semester is almost over. When I started this semester I honestly had no idea it would be this difficult. Multiple, multiple test weeks suck. But hey here i am one four-finals-in-two-days away from a much needed break.

We finally got our first major snow storm this winter (8 inches today, with the promise of more snow over the weekend). Anyway before I go hide in an igloo to study until monday I thought it would be appropriate to post my christmas wish list.

I guess one of the things I would like to do eventually is go to a Comic Con in San Diego. I realized this after seeing the guest list for this year's comic con. I was mildly interested in it before, me being a tv geek and all and comic con featuring displays from buffy, angel and firefly (joss whedon is apparently a comic con deity), and the prospect of seeing a few of the actors and actresses from the shows like jewel saite (kaylie from firefly) who was in comic con this year. then looking at the pictures from this year I realized it was much bigger than that. as various hollywood studios use it to publicize their upcoming films...case and point JESSICA ALBA and KATE BECKINSALE were in comic con this year...I think it will be an interesting experience just seeing stars like that as well as freaks people in costumes

also announced in comic con this year were a continuation of the buffy series on comics (season 9 now), I read the first part of the season 8 comics and I'm pretty hooked, a continuation of season 5 of angel (YES im a josh whedon fan if you haven't noticed) and finally a tv movie about the history of Giles!!! (Ripper)

it's not just joss whedon though...IRON MAN haha i was skeptical at first but i think it will turn out alright

i just finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows continuing my HP tradition ever since book four was released, I started reading at 7 am and pretty much didn't stop till i finished the book. I'm sure anyone who's followed the series this long will read this book and it's a pretty decent ending to an overall good series. It's very action packed and I'm sure the movie will be amazing.

Finally I was kind of expecting something but it was still funny when I saw it.

summers been interesting so far i've been learning a lot and earning money in the process...mostly Python and a few other stuff, its been getting hot though and with the current global warming thingie going on i don't know how much fun it will be in a few weeks...

apparently i've just experienced my first heat wave. according to the weatherman a heat wave happens when we have 3 consecutive days of temperatures reaching at least 90 F (32 C, for the rest of the world), i was kind of amused when i heard thats how it was defined, parang *yun lang*, i used to hear horror stories about heat waves here and stuff, so i was surprised when i found out what it actually meant, under this definition the phils would probably be under a constant heat wave haha...oh well at least i won't sweat as much when i go home this time

i finally watched the final 3 seasons of buffy again something i've been meaning to do ever since i found out that joss whedon is continuing the buffy story line with dark horse comics, and it made me feel nostalgic, the series is hilarious, yet dark and depressing at times, the whole package just made it such a great tv series.

i think hands down joss whedon is my favorite tv series writer, to be able to come up with the entire buffyverse and the concept for firefly just blows my mind, it just made me feel depressed about firefly being canceled all over again, i was sad because firefly had so much potential and was never able to fully mature and develop like the buffy verse.

(for fans of either of this universes I strongly recommend you check out the other series if you haven't yet)

speaking of firefly, i just realized that nathan fillion (mal in firefly) was the final super villain in season 7 and i found it kind of funny to see him playing a demonic twisted ex-priest.

ill probably finish up angel again next (i never watched the last 2 seasons), to complete my joss whedon fan boy phase (well i might watch firefly again :P)

why can't cinemalaya be a week later than it is ljfdasha;obnh;oasue now i have to find another way to watch the movie haha...

looking at the list of senatorial candidates made me cringe ...i don't think i can even pick with a good conscience, 12 people out of the current pool of senatoriables, that i would like to see in congress. then an idea hit me...given how bad these candidate lists have been going we should re-assess our election policy.

instead of voting for the people you want to run for senate, they should let us vote for the top 12 people we dont want to be in senate, then get the bottom 12 votegetters in senate, its like golf you see the lowest score wins, that allows people who have trouble picking 12 decent candidates to vote just random bangag thoughts, who'd your list of 12 be?

start na ng playoffs!!! grabe ang sama talaga ng timing crunch time na and all i did yesterday was watch the games, on the upside there were some amazing upsets yesterday

i filled up my facebook NBA bracket na rin pala phoenix over detroit in 6 games yung finals prediction ko...

i found it deceptive to count the number of weeks till classes end so i decided to just count the number of requirements i have before finals:

programming midterm

biochem exam

im still aliivee haha sana matapos na yung lab rep na yan :p then heroes!!!!

haha it's getting there...at least nabibilang na with one hand :)

the admissions results came out this week and I was finally able to check the admit list today, I just found out no one from pisay got in this year :(. I ran into matt, my old adviser in the hallway who also happens to be one of the admissions directors, and he confirmed the bad news, well its up and down he said, i guess the results from the past two years made me over optimistic that someone would get in this year too and well its just been a harsh reality check. I hope this doesnt dissuade anyone from applying though and hopefully we'll have even more admits from pisay next year. id still be glad to talk with anyone who's thinking about studying abroad in general. I hope that the people who applied this year dont take the results of this too harshly its really just sometimes by luck and of course prayer that someone gets in over another, i wish you guys the best and well theres always the option to try applying for transfers

hey everyone! i know i haven't blogged in a while...it's not like i didnt mean to (excuses nanaman) its just that everytime i think of blogging LJ doesnt load i guess the earthquake still kinda messes up the internet!!! anyway greetings from Sagay City, Negros Occidental! haha apparently LJ loads here...i'm working on a coral reef restoration project here its actually pretty interesting work hahaha...we visited the reef sites we're gonna work on and i can really say the philippines is such a beautiful place =) things are interesting here and im also glad i loaded those naruto greys and oc eps on my computer for the down time hahaha =) anyway pinapatrabaho na ako hopefully i can blog more next time haha

i finished my pre-regging na finally (hoping next sem doesnt kill me)

it's been quite a while since my last post, i meant to do this earlier but last week was just so hellish i needed extra time to detox. they should ban 5-day breaks right before crunch time...i came back from thanks giving break with 4 psets a paper and 2 tests! i actually thought i was kinda prepared for it, but the test i thought was on friday was actually on wednesday and it screwed my entire schedule up...whatever i did it wasnt that healthy and even now, two weeks after my body is still kinda reeling from the blow (my reluctance to start my final paper and instead just start blogging is a reflection of this...in spite of this though...i can't say without lying that i did not enjoy these last two weeks as they were filled with tons of new experiences

i promised id stay out of philippine political discussions so ill keep this short, i still believe we need some form of cha-cha to be more efficient, congress however well meant their intentions are should not have tried going at it without the senate, i believe the senators though will never support cha-cha, because why would they legislate the loss of their own jobs?, this leaves me with a dilemma that i dont have an opinion on yet, which is worse, allowing an institution that has obviously outgrown its purpose and is now only good as a cash sink, and yes a source of entertainment, or having cha-cha stuffed down our throats by an over-eager power hungry house majority....
